JOB DESCRIPTION
As DoorDash is venturing into new verticals such as Convenience, grocery, alcohol, pet food etc, the biggest problem we need to solve is how do I run a store?. One of the challenges we face running a store is: how do I make Picking efficient and fun for our dashers while they are searching for items in stores as big as several thousands of square feet. The In-Store Picking team is responsible for anything and everything related to the picking process in the store. This is a 0->1 team trying to figure out how map a store based on various input data available to us, determining pick path optimizations, and eventually introduce gamification to make picking fun.
As an engineering manager in this role, you will have the opportunity to own a large portion of our last mile logistics cost structure and will directly contribute to the success of our convenience and grocery business. You will have an opportunity to work closely with senior leadership across engineering, product, operations, and data science to build features that will improve our picking efficiency. You will have an opportunity to build things that will be foundational to in-store navigation, gamification as well to make the picking process fun.
At DoorDash, our mission to empower local economies shapes how our team members move quickly, learn, and reiterate in order to make impactful decisions that display empathy for our range of usersfrom Dashers to merchant partners to consumers. We are a technology and logistics company that started with door-to-door delivery, and we are looking for team members who can help us go from a company that is known for delivering food to a company that people turn to for any and all goods.
DoorDash is growing rapidly and changing constantly, which gives our team members the opportunity to share their unique perspectives, solve new challenges, and own their careers. We're committed to supporting employees happiness, healthiness, and overall well-being by providing comprehensive benefits and perks including premium healthcare, wellness expense reimbursement, paid parental leave and more.
